IMATS is coming up here in January and I cant not be more excited about it.  Now knowing what this convention is all about, I feel very prepared. I wanted to share with you what is on my shopping list.

1. The number one product on my list is Inglot's 4 Blush palette.
The colors I am hoping to get are

2. Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown Products.  I have many products from both brands and I love them.
I am looking to getting a few new items and a lot more repurchases.

Bobbi Brown concealer (re-p), corrector (re-p), stick foundation (new), lip sticks (new), & brushes if they have them.
Laura Mercier brightening powder (new), secret camouflage concealer (re-p),  and a pressed powder mineral/foundation not sure which one yet (new)

3. Sigma Brushes not sure if i want the kit or pick my own yet.  I have a few weeks to figure it out.
I do want to get another angled contour brush and a small angled brow brush.

4. Ben Nye luxury powder & setting spray

I think I have a very reasonable list but I will be bring extra money just incase I see something I really want.

Beginners Guide to IMATS

IMATS SURVIVAL GUIDE

I went to IMATS LA for the first time last year.  I loved it, but I was overwhelmed to say the least.  If I didn't have my list of things I wanted I would have walked away with nothing.  What??? how can I walk away with nothing?  I would have been to scared to buy products that I didn't try, swatch, or research before.  You can't exactly go back and return products that you didn't like.  I am going to go over some tips that will help first time IMATS go-ers.

Rules, Tips, & Tricks:

#1 Buy your tickets ahead of time.
At least a couple weeks if not earlier.  Last year they sold out a week or two before, that means no tickets will be sold at the door.  The tickets go on sale months in advance, this year the ticket sales started in July.

#2 Arrive Early.
If you want to get everything you have on your list, go early.  I showed up last year at 8:00 am and within an hour Makeup Forever sold out of the foundation I wanted.  Make your list and go by priority when shopping.  This year I plan on going to the Naimie's Beauty counters first because they had the best discount and my favorite brands Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown.

#3 Have a List!!!
Plan ahead and make sure you have tested the products and got the right colors.  There is time to swatch but there is not a lot of room.  A lot of people want to swatch everything, so it can get very crowded.  Be ready for people to be in your "bubble".  Before IMATS go to the website http://www.imats.net check out the exhibitor list and see what companies will be there.  Then plan on making a trip to your local Sephora/Macy's/Nordstroms/where ever you shop and test things out, get samples.  MUFE handed me a list and had me check the items I wanted so they could just grab everything.  Not every booth will be able to walk with you holding your hand making sure you get everything you need.  It can be very fast paced.  Don't let this discourage you, it is still a lot of fun but it is not a relaxing day shopping by any means.  You want to be able to take advantage of the discounts and the crowds are crazy.

#4 Bring different types of payment options.
Check, Cash, & Card.  Sounds silly I know.  Why wouldn't cash be accepted everywhere?  I thought the same thing, I only brought cash last year and could not buy anything from Benefit or Sigma Beauty.  I not saying those where the only places that didn't except cash, but those where the only two I went to that didn't.  ALSO bring enough money for parking.

#5 Pack Light.
Dont bring a heavy purse filled with everything under the sun.  A crossbody bag and a water will do just fine.  If you plan on buying a lot, maybe a empty shopping bag to hold everything.  IMATS does have their big bags, but you never know if they will have enough.  If you plan on staying all day, there are places to eat very close to the Convention Center.  You can also pack a lunch.

#6 Sign up for Classes & Events
IMATS has great speakers that are worth taking a look at and the classes are always very informative.   It does not matter how experienced you are, you can always learn something new.  Not everyone applies makeup the same.

#7 Bring a Camera
To video tape and take pictures.  Lots of YouTube beauty gurus go to these events so you will want to take pictures with your favorites.  Even take pictures of swatches to compare with other brands they might have better prices.

Last little side notes:
Bring a friend =]
The discounts are not worth flying in and staying at a hotel, but the experience is
ask to sign up for pro cards (bigger discounts)

HAVE FUN AND ENJOY BEING AROUND PEOPLE WHO LOVE MAKEUP JUST AS MUCH AS YOU DO

October Favorites

October Favorites

1. Benefit Stay Don't Stray Primer.
This primer is to be use on the eye lid and under the eyes.  I personally use this under my eyes only.  I have fine lines and uneven skin under my eyes and this really helps with the creasing and evening out of the over all weird texture of my under eye area.  This also gives a sheer wash of color which helps a little with the discoloration I have.

2. Maybelline Mineral Power Foundation
This product unfortunately is discontinued, but you can still find it online.  I got mine off amazon for a penny (shipping was $4.99) I am very happy with this purchase it is a smooth texture and gives medium to full coverage.  The finish is a matte, but not cake.  It is very easy to blend.  It actually reminds me of Chanel's VitaLumiere Agua.

3. Tarte Blushes
Three of these mini blushes are from the Tarte blush gift set and the other is from the "In the Glow" set from Sephora.  The top two are matte and the bottom two have a little shimmer, but it is not overpowering shimmer by any means.  I love the Tarte blushes in general, if there are any new blushes you want to try out I highly recommend these.

4. MAC lipstick & Revlon Lipstick
The MAC lipstick is in the color Blankety it is a nude (more along the skin color nude) lipstick with a natural brown/pink.  The Revlon lipstick in the color Demure is another nude but in the natural lip color sense (your lips but better) a pretty neutral pink.

5. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
Besides the smell, which is amazing, this bronzer is not to orange and good for all over color and/or contouring.

6. Sleek Contour Kit
I have this in the color light.  It comes in three different shades light, medium, and dark. Light is the perfect color for me in the winter the bronzer is around two shades darker then my skin tone (NC25).  It is super affordable.  I purchased mine on the Sleek makeup website since it is not sold in stores in the US.  Sleek products in general are amazing and completely worth every penny. The highlight is not glittery it gives a subtle shine without looking greasy.

7. Maybelline Illegal Lengths & Mega Plush Mascara
On their own I don't care for either one.  I first apply the Mega Plush mascara and then the Illegal Lengths Mascara over top.  Mega Plush gives my lashes volume and the Illegal Length mascara gives my lashes length (hence the name).
